How I’ve Been
Sorry, for the delay. Some untimely things have been taking me away from the blog.
My personal life has been going through some friction in the past weeks and writing on the blog has really slipped from my priorities.
As for the golf, it is no surprise that it has also fallen victim to my weakening emotional state. Last monday I played a Pro Am in Ottawa at Rideauview. It was a a very fun day with a lot of familiar faces and some good golf on top of that. Unfortunately, a severe storm rolled and cut the round short. Check out the pictures on my site of the day. We then had a fantastic dinner and I had a lot of time to have some great conversations with some of my golfing “mentors” Brad Fritsch(who finished T4 last week on the Nationwide!!) and David Mathis of the Nationwide Tour. It was very encouraging to talk with them and get some fresh insights into life on Tour.
I then headed to Mississauga and proceeded to experience first hand how a struggling personal life gets in the way when trying to play golf under the pressure of competition. I could not think straight at all, my focus was very far from the golf course. I played awful, the worst event of the year.
I am not discouraged; thankfully enough, I could identify and chalk the poor play up what was happening to me off the course.
I spent the weekend caddying for a good friend of mine, and it was great to watch the play of the top guys in the field, and also have someone to talk to about the issues I was going through. Even without practicing at all, I feel that the weekend was very beneficial for me as a player and my improvement.
I am in a better place emotionally and mentally. I’m hopeful that this will allow me to focus better on the task at hand while I play this week.
We are in Seaforth, Ontario this week and so far it was been a great time. This is a small town of 2000 people that are so supportive of us as aspiring players. We have been treated so well, its been very comforting. The course is a very fun course that will yield a lot of birdies. I hope to free up the head and just let the birdies happen. If I do, it will be a great week come Sunday afternoon.
I’m holding onto the idea that last weeks was Brad’s week to make a charge on the leaderboard, and that this week will be mine!
